Visitors!
In the month of November I had FOUR people from my home church come to Burundi. What a blessing! My global outreach pastor and his wife came for the World Relief Africa Great Lakes Church Partnership Conference in early November. Thank you Jonathan and Janie for the encouragement and support. It was wonderful to have you here! Here's Janie and I enjoying a cup of yummy chai and sweet conversation...
...And here's Jonathan in true form getting down and dirty with the locals (and loving every minute of it)...
I had so much fun with my two friends, Seth and Peter, who came out to work on a video project. We traipsed all over Burundi and Rwanda for footage. They endured hours of treacherous, rough roads (if you can call them that) and remained flexible and smiling the entire time (right Muzungus?). I really did have a great time with you two (Shath and his Sherpa) and can't wait to see the finished product. Here's the "film crew" hard at work...
And last but not least, dear sweet Ruthie came to bless us with her presence. She also withstood some harrowing experiences such as watching a chicken killed before it was prepared for our dinner (at least it was fresh!); yelling at Tambry as she argued with 15 African men over black-market gas; taking a six-hour trip with 7 people crammed into 5 seats; walking back to our cabin in the pitch-black not knowing what was lurking in the bushes around us ("doesn't that jasmine smell wonderful?")... The list goes on and on and I haven't even started on the countless over-sized spiders and insects. Thanks for being such a good sport Ruthie, we really put you through the wringer. I enjoyed seeing this world through your eyes. I hope we can convince you to come back someday! Ruth had so much love to give to these people and they were more than willing to receive it...
