they're here!

some of you know that i've been looking forward to my parents' visit. well they finally arrived today. only one day late! due to a delayed flight from london they missed their flight in nairobi, kenya. they were able to get on a flight later that day to kigali, rwanda where my dear friends sarah and kristi took great care of them for the night and then got them on a flight down here to buja this afternoon. we've had a wonderful evening with dan and tambry and are just about to head for bed. tomorrow (wednesday) mom will join me for ladies bible study in the morning and then the three of us will drive down to nyanza lac in southern burundi, stay the night there and then drive back up through the center of the country to see the southern most source of the nile river as well as some other beautiful sights. we'll plan to be back to buja by the afternoon on thursday to help welcome those coming for thanksgiving. aaron and austin are coming from rift valley academy and christina and laura vinton will be coming home with them. bill and sue vinton are driving over from bukavu, congo to join us for thanksgiving. we plan to have a big get together on friday with the broses, vintons, simon, lizzie & zac guillebaud, doug, deanna & maddie hiebert, jesse, joy & zac johnson, and maybe some others! it's such a blessing to have mom and dad here and to be able to introduce them to these people who have become such an important part of my world over the past year and a half.

we will spend the rest of this week in burundi and then fly down to south africa on sunday. we'll spend that night in johannesburg and then fly the next day up to the zimbabwe side of victoria falls where we'll stay for four nights and enjoy the falls and a safari in botswana. i'm so thankful for this wonderful opportunity to share some of this amazing continent with my parents. thanks for your prayers for safety and a great time together. i hope to post pictures eventually!

Oh, what a wonderful time to spend with your folks over Thanksgiving. I think we spent Thanksgiving with your family on at least one occassion in Gresham. I too love Africa and wish that some day I will get to set foot on that great continent again. Enjoy a great time with your mom and dad. What a wonderful adventure. Have fun, Steve and Loie.

Hi to you, Sara....and Surprise...to your folks!
It is good they can go see your special places and people over there. Looks like you are crossing the continent...almost parallel to Tammy who just went to Malawi, leaving here on T-day!
Hi Steve and Loie! :-) Mary Wright
