Tambry, Lizzie, Deanna, Sarah (visiting from Kigali), Sunita (visiting from Washington DC), and I spent a blissfully relaxing weekend together at a Bujumbura beach. The days were spent doing, well, not much of anything at all besides talking, laughing, and hanging out on the beach. In the evening we hired a couple of fisher boys to take us on a boat ride and ended up getting front row seats for a sweet sunset! We tipped our guys a little extra for deftly maneuvering around a friendly hippo that swam between us and the shoreline. (did you know hippos are often reported to kill more people in Africa each year, than any other animal?)
