these days

Last week the Hieberts moved to a new house just down the road so I got to hang out with this little one quite a bit while all the work was going on around us. Lucky me. Her official name is Elise but we've all gotten used to calling her Keza which, in Kirundi, means beautiful.

We now have house plants! Trina was in project mode last week and went into town to bargain for plants and pots. She, Enoch our cook, and Jean Marie our gardener potted each of the new plants and they are now perfectly placed around our house and making it an even more pleasant place to live.

Dan is here for a few days so there is lots of excitement around the house and office. We all sat around talking for a few hours last night and I was reminded of the wisdom I've gleaned from time spent with him. I'm so thankful to have been introduced to the world of international development and holistic ministry by someone with such a passion for God's kingdom and a heart for his people. I was also reminded of how much I miss his lovely wife and my dear, dear friend Tambry. Maybe she'll come with him on his next visit!

Bible study starts up again this week for some of the ladies from around town. Trina and I are looking forward to hosting it and seeing friends we haven't seen all summer as well as meeting some new ones. We usually make up a beautifully diverse group of women. In the two years I've been a part of the group I've met and studied God's Word with ladies from Burundi, Kenya, England, Ethiopia, India, Denmark, Egypt, Zambia, France, Switzerland, South Africa, USA, Canada, and I'm sure a few more that I'm forgetting! I'm excited to experience the richness of fellowship with these ladies again.

I can't believe that you guys put plants in the house without my permission. Gosh. It is SO weird to see these pictures of the people I love and the home I miss and Know you and it are so far away, I just had my little "missing buj" cry, so I'm better now. I WILL come next time with Dan. I will, I will, I will....

it's worth mentioning that I'm getting better at holding the keza, it's important for her to see me though... or her mom... the keza... imagine
