Burundi tour

I made a loop around Burundi last week (Buj to Gitega to Nyanza-Lac to Buj) with a guy named Andy who is the Church Partnership coordinator in the region. He and I are planning the Partnership Conferences coming up in Burundi Oct 30-Nov 5. Those are the reason the GSCC people are coming out. A few members from each of the US-Great Lakes Partnership churches are coming for these meetings as well as staff from around the region. They were in Rwanda and Congo last year so this year we get to show off Burundi. We’ll have a couple of days of meetings in Gitega, visit our Microfinance activities there, travel down to Nyanza-Lac where our Rehabilitation project is and show them some of the houses we’re helping returning refugees to build (my favorite WR program in Burundi), then travel back up to Buj to spend a day with one of our HIV/AIDS programs. It’ll be a busy week but I’m looking forward to it.
