Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
Once again during this season, as I am missing familiar people and events at home, I am overwhelmed with the knowledge that I am not only taken care of by a loving Father but truly and abundantly blessed in this place. My hope is that you have experienced the wonder of Christ's miraculous arrival to earth...

Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel, which means God with us.
Matthew 1:23
(did you catch that? a VIRGIN shall CONCEIVE and the baby will be GOD WITH US.)
...and that in this new year you will realize, deeper than ever, God's complete plan of redemption and the hope of His Kingdom coming.
Lizzie's parents are visiting from England. Here are Lizzie and her dear dad at Joy & Jesse's gingerbread house party.
Joy & Jesse had a bunch of old glasses kicking around so we had a little fun.
Zac & Maddy, bath buddies!
The Mathews' family traditional li'l smokey sterno roast has made it's debut in Burundi.
My Christmas present from Austin. She doesn't have a name yet and is not quite weaned. Does anyone have any experience in shipping pets home from Africa?
The Christmas Eve gathering
The day after Christmas we headed up to Kumbya for a week. It was cold and rainy most of the days with just a few hours of sun breaking through here and there. But it was actually nice to don jeans and sweatshirts for a change.
